Check through our frequently asked questions below. If you still have a question, send it to us and we’ll get you an answer asap.

A: It all depends on the type of filter you have. Typical disposable 1” filters should be changed once a month during peak usage. It’s always a good idea to keep an eye on it though to make sure it’s not plugged.

A: This controls the fan setting at your furnace. “On” will leave the blower fan running continuous throughout the day. The “Auto” setting runs the fan when the thermostat is calling for “heat” or “cool” only.

A: There are a couple of ways to clean the cells and pre filters of your electronic air cleaner (EAC). Make sure the power is off before you removed the cells. You can stick them in your dishwasher but make sure not to let them go through the dry cycle. If you have a large plastic tub or sink you can soak them for 15 minutes with dish soap and then rinse. Another easy way to clean them is to take them outside and spray them with a garden hose. No matter which way you clean them, be careful when handling them. It’s important to make sure you don’t damage the cells, but even more important you don’t cut yourself.

A: We recommend having regular maintenance twice a year. Once in the fall to check out the heating system and once in the spring to check out the air conditioning system.

A: Running the fan continuously has a couple of benefits. For one, you are constantly circulating air though your systems air filter. Depending on the type of filter you have, this is a great way to improve your home’s indoor air quality (IAQ). Also, running the fan continuously is a great way to help even out the temperature in your home. You should start to notice less “hot or cold spots” throughout the house.

A: Unfortunately there is no exact science to telling how long your equipment will last. There are many factors that can affect the life of a system. Equipment sizing, application, environment, brand etc. all play a part. You can generally expect to get around 15 years out of your equipment. What we do know is that getting regular maintenance will help extend you equipments life and efficiency.

A: Generally 1” disposable filters will keep your equipment and duct work clean if they are changed regularly. They do not, however, do much for your indoor air quality. There are several options available to improve your IAQ, ranging from thicker, media filters to ultra violet lamps. We’d be happy to go over all options with you and try to figure out which products would best suit your needs.

A: We’ve added central air conditioning to several homes that had no existing duct work. In most cases there is no need to hire any other outside contractors as part of the process. The best way to figure what options are available for your home is to have one of our representatives come out and evaluate your situation.
